Medina, our Sakina is an illustrated Islamic children’s book in English about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his city, Medina. Written by Nabila Abouayad and illustrated by Kawtar G. Bertran, it is the English edition of Medina, nuestra medicina, translated by Dawn Broadbridge.

What is inside

The story begins on a cool day in the month of Sha’ban, at the grandparents’ house. Yasin and his sister Tasnim are playing among the cushions when Yasin asks Grandpa Adam what his name means, and so begins an afternoon of getting to know the best of Creation. Between the chapters, short poems in praise of the Prophet ﷺ invite children to remember him with love: sakina, tranquillity, is what the heart finds in that remembrance.

• Short stories about some of the noble qualities of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
• Full-colour illustrations throughout.
• A natural way to revive the sunnah and follow his example from childhood.

For reading together

The book aims to spark curiosity in children, so that eagerness to know Habib Allah ﷺ and love for him grow within them from an early age. It also helps parents and teachers plant that seed, creating moments to learn about and remember the Prophet ﷺ. Large format (A4), 48 pages, paperback.
