Ayyub, the Patient One

Ayyub, the Patient One tells children the story of Prophet Ayyub, the great example of patience in Islam. It is an illustrated book from our collection Stories of the Prophets, and the English edition of Ayyub, el profeta paciente.

Written by Ahmed Bermejo and illustrated by Fausía Aragoneses, this Islamic children’s book in English tells the story of a man whom Allah praised in the Qur’an with beautiful words: “What an excellent servant! Truly, he was one who always turned back (to his Lord).”

Ayyub lived in a land of green fields and springs of clear water, a noble and generous man loved by everyone for his kindness. He had health, family, wealth and friends, and he thanked Allah for each of them. Then, one after another, he lost them all. What makes his story extraordinary is what happened next: the harder the trial became, the more he turned to his Lord. Rahma, his wife, stayed by his side when everyone else had left. And in the end, Allah gave him back far more than he had lost.

It is a book about patience and gratitude, and about an idea that comforts at any age: every difficulty, however hard, carries inside it a seed of light that only blossoms with patience, gratitude and trust in our Lord’s plan. It closes with an activity section for children. Large format (A4), 44 pages, paperback. Ideal for reading together as a family from age 4, and for reading alone from age 7.
